5 Tips to increase YouTube Views

5 Tips to Increase YouTube Views

by Vish

This post is a result of our very first question on YouTube by ImpulsivMusic who asked about promoting YouTube Vids and getting more exposure.

Increase YouTube Views

There are many ways to get more views on YouTube. For this post, I’m sticking to legitimate and real ways to increase YouTube views. I mean you can easily just use page refresh tools or tactics, or even pay for views, but what good is that unless you’re just trying to boast numbers. Okay, maybe a few hundred quick views might help with social proof. But despite all that, remember that real viewers and real YouTube traffic means real interest, which is ultimately what you want.

I’m also going to ignore paid methods like the “YouTube Promoted Videos” program. Let’s keep it all free and natural for this one.

If you ignore all the viral hits and big time YouTubers, many people don’t even generate 100 views on a video. So if you’ve got a few hundred real views, consider yourself lucky and on track.

Every now and then, you’ll hit some numbers with a video you might not expect and as you grow and stay committed to your channel, you’ll naturally progress to focusing on the quality of your video content. You won’t worry so much about how to get more YouTube views.

Here are important tips to keep in mind in order to increase YouTube views and facilitate your mission to make money online:

1. Careful with your Keywords

Keywords are definitely one of the most important factors on how to increase views on YouTube. Be sure to take five minutes in order to quickly research and pinpoint some keywords that are being searched on the web. Your titles, descriptions and tags tell Google what your video is about. Using carefully chosen, relevant keywords will do wonders for helping organic searchers locate your video. Remember to keep your keywords RELEVANT and don’t always aim for terms with the largest views. Keywords with lower volume are generally less competitive and will get you decent (if not high) placement more quickly. You can do some easy research with the Google Keyword Tool.

2. Help Videos Really Rock

Videos that provide useful information or valuable content will naturally incite more interest from YouTube users. An effective way to increase YouTube views is by posting up ‘how to” videos or tutorials on various subjects. This doesn’t have to be the case with every video you post. Just the same, a genuinely helpful video will almost always produce more views than a “regular” video. This doesn’t include super entertaining videos, which always do well since many YouTubers are looking to be entertained.

3. Questions and Curiosity

Ask questions in your videos. Get your watchers engaged. One engaged viewer can lead to more engaged viewers. You can also play the “curiosity” card by hinting on an upcoming video. Encouraging participation and comments from your viewers is vital if you want to build up your views/subscriber count.

4. Embed and Share Vids on your Blog

If you don’t have a blog, you definitely need to set one up immediately so that you can build an audience and target base for the videos you’re posting. If you need any help in this department – I recommend reading ABR. If you do have a blog, embed your videos like we did for this post and leverage your blog traffic in order to increase YouTube views.

5. Build Backlinks to Improve Rank!

Once your videos are up and running or embedded on your blog, you should consider linking directly to either the video on YouTube or to your post, with specific anchors that contain your relevant keywords. If you create backlinks to your post page, you’ll be increasing your ranking for the page, which will inevitably result in more hits – if peeps are searching for your terms of course. This will increase YouTube views on the embedded video. Creating specific backlinks directly to your video on YouTube will help your ranking on Google searches for your video as a stand-alone. Put on your SEO marketing hat and can create links from your sites or do a little bit of article marketing, using the very popular EzineArticles.

There are of course, other ways to increase views. I just gave you some of the principal ways to boost your YouTube efforts.

I really hope these help out! Please take a minute to share your tips and ideas in the comments section below. What strategies have you personally used (or plan to use) to increase YouTube views?

I recommend trying http://www.socialkik.com to buy Youtube video Views and channel subscribers, they have been recommended by a lot of bloggers and they can be trusted. Socialkik can actually add views and channel subscribers to your Video or channel without logging into your Youtube account, which is safe and anonymous.

Thanks your tips were very informative. I like it when administrators give out more than one tip on how to improve online marketing..

Thanks for the tip! I think commenting on the video will also help people to watch it but of course the video should be worth the time watching. Hope that helps! Thanks for sharing such great information!

Wow! I don’t know that we can do that. If I saw this article last few months ago when I launched the video on youtube I should be getting thousands of views now compared to 102 views for 5 months. Thanks for the help.

I saw some services in Fiverr.com that can help increase views and subscriber for only $5. I’ve done it once and it did boost the numbers twice. Hope that helps!

I actually think it’s the best way to just do it yourself and not buy a thing. I mean, maybe after you’ve bought it still no one really watches it so then you actually wasted your money.
I think that making a network is probably really important. Commenting on smaller users like yourself, and befriending them, should probably help.
Still, I’m kind of stuck, but it’ll work out eventually!

We have been trying to get more people interested in poetry videos rather than just comedy videos. We posted youtube videos to get more people to visit our site on http://www.enoughsaid.ning.com. So far we have gotten a few views but this will certainly help. Thanks!

Every view counts – and you’ll get even more if you practice what I’ve mentioned. Remember to always add a CLEAR call to action to every video. Whether it be to subscribe to your newsletter, visit your site, buy something, try something. Key is to offer or invite an already interested targeted viewer for MORE of what they’re interested in in any way possible.

Great article! Wish I had read it before releasing our Archery Tag™ video two weeks ago. (It’s a new sport. Kind of like paintball or airsoft, but with bows and arrows). It’s already gone somewhat viral, getting about 3,000 hits, but these tips might have helped it do even better.

Vish June 24, 2011 at 2:23 am

Congrats on the hits John… Archery Tag looks really cool…

Remember you can still tweak your videos descriptions and tags even though they’re live. You can also point links to your videos and channel via article directories/blog posts and the likes. Also keep creating videos – not so obvious related keywords with your titles (since Archery Tag in itself is prob not searched too much) and create videos off other sports like – “New Alternative for Paintball Fans!” or “Archery over Paintball Guns Any Day!” or the likes, of course check the keywords first! :)

Search for terms relating to combat sports.
Thanks for commenting!

I created my first smart phone app for the Samsung Wave called PuppyCalm: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljugwn_ROuw

I got a very fast increase in the number of viewers when the video was commented in a specialized Russian blog.

I think a good tip is trying to contact bloggers and inform them about your product. If you have something good and new they will create a post about it.

These were some great tips. I’m confused about the keywords though. Is this what we should be putting in the title? Or is this what we should be trying to make videos about?

Does anyone have tips to increase views on comedy channels? Thanks!

Here’s what I have going so far…I call it…THE LAUGH ZOO!
